Stoneman Douglas Eagle Regiment Band won “Best in Class” for woodwinds, brass, percussion, color guard, music, visual performance, general effect & drum major, 1st place class 4A and overall 1st runner up at the Falcon Sound Invitational!

The Coral Springs Fire Department recently presented a program to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s upperclassman encouraging teenagers to make the right choice when behind the wheel. The Choices Presentation was an hour long demonstration where paramedics covered everything from DUI’s to texting while driving, & the teenagers were engaged in graphic, yet realistic images of the potential consequences of their actions.

Westglades Middle School was host to the first Open Mic Night for teens sponsored by the Friends of the Parkland Library. Over 20 students including poets, singers, actors & musicians from Westglades & Marjory Stoneman Douglas gathered to share their original works & amazing talents. Boys & girls in grades K-5 recently participated in the Cypress Park Tennis Center’s 6-week program of Ralleyball Team Tennis. At the end, there was a pizza party and all participants received ribbons.

The Girl Scout’s 100th anniversary celebration was held recently at Sportsplex in Coral Springs. Local Scout Cynthia Gaddam is pictured with former Vice Mayor & current City Commissioner Claudette Bruck, State Representative Ari Porth and their fab Coral Springs Mayor Roy Gold.

HCI, Inc., the large publishing house in Deerfield Beach, recently hosted members of the Friends of the Parkland Library at its Reading Etc. gift shop. Peter Vegso, the President & Publisher of HCI, gave the group a personal tour of the publishing house, shared his insights about the future of book publishing & generously offered each member to select one or several books of interest to them to take home. The students were joined by hundreds of members of various church ministries as well as 70 seminarians from St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami.

Father George Puthusseril carried the monstrance holding the Eucharist through the streets of Coral Springs. He is joined by the seminarians from Miami.

Families of the Coral Springs Mothers of Multiples Club, a support organization for mothers of twins, triplets and higher order multiples, gathered for their annual Halloween Bash.


More than 1,000 people attended the Trunk ‘N Treat at St. Andrew Catholic School in Coral Springs which featured a bounce house, slides, haunted houses, music & prizes, & raised more than $3,000 for the school. On June 24 members of the Parkland Woman’s Club met at Jamie’s Country Stitches in CS to participate in the ONE MILLION Pillowcase Challenge—“Make a pillowcase-Make a difference.” They made 10+ pillowcases (and plan to make more) which they’ll donate to 18-year-old teens who are leaving foster care & going out on their own. The recent “Scouts for Troops” Walk was a service project organized by Parkland Troop #10417 to earn the prestigious Bronze Award. Over 100 people attended along with 15 Girl Scout troops & raised $800 to send supplies to US Military troops stationed in Iraq. Archbishop John Clement Favalora recently met with St. Andrew Catholic School’s 5th grade class at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Miami following the Mass of Chrism. St. Andrew student Mariana Nava of Coral Springs (pictured behind the Archbishop on the left) was among the Catholic school students who encouraged the priests with their essays about the importance of their vocations.
