Riverglades Review

By Nicole Cook

RE had a banner year full of activities, events and service to the community and RE’s sister school in Deerfield Beach. Among the many highlights over the past few months were Sring Carnival and Cultural Arts Night. All of the educational and engaging programs are made possible due to the dedication of the many volunteers who work closely with faculty and staff and support them each day. These volunteers will be recognized May 14 at 9am during a “Volunteer Recognition Breakfast.”

Also on the calendar is the last Outreach program for the school year. The Outreach Committee has partnered with a local non-profit organization, “In Jacob’s Shoes” (www.injacobsshoes.org) to provide new and gently used backpacks and school supplies to RE’s sister school in Deerfield Beach. In Jacob’s Shoes was formed in honor of a former RE student, Jacob Zweig. The mission of In Jacob’s Shoes is to provide new and gently used shoes, school supplies and athletic shoes and equipment to economically disadvantaged youth. Scholarships are also awarded to children and teens for camp, athletic, education, travel, after school care and extra-curricular programs.

And please rememebr to check www.RivergladesElementaryPTA.org for more info on all of our scheduled events.
