It’s hard to believe the school year is coming to an end already. It seems like yesterday when we were all attending our meet and greets with our teachers! On reflection, we have had a terrific year with a lot of fundraisers and events for our students, families and friends.
The students had a busy year learning and having fun at events like the Barnes & Noble Reading Night and Publix Math Night. The PTA brought the Scholastic Book Fair to the school twice this year which gave children an opportunity to purchase books. To get our kids involved in nutrition and fitness the Wellness Committee put together a bunch of activities for the kids to participate in: P.A.C.K week gave them a chance to try new fruits and vegetables as well as doing their best in the Presidential Fitness testing.
Field days, always a highlight for the kids, gave them an opportunity to run a variety of relay races. They ran against the different classes in their grade level, participating in numerous activities. The children also enjoyed watching and cheering for their teacher when they competed against teachers from other classes.
Traci Gaynor headed up another tremendously successful Cultural Arts Night. Whole Foods in Coral Springs even participated by providing a sampling station while students and parents were introduced to how music and art go hand in hand. The children enjoyed seeing their artwork on display throughout the halls thanks to our Meet the Masters volunteers. Another highly attended event!
PTE holds annual elections for officers May 5 and we are excited to welcome the 2010-2011 PTA board! And as always, we thank our numerous volunteers who help organize and facilitate all of the fundraising and school-wide events. It’s because of your hard work and dedication that we continue to be such an amazing school!
School starts Aug. 23. All of our new and returning students, along with their families can look forward to our annual “Meet and Greet” Aug. 20. Meeting your children’s new teachers, purchasing school supplies, pre-paying for lunches, and getting bus info are all part of the event. Each grade will have their own time slots for families to meet teachers.
Have a safe and happy summer!
