What’s on your mind?

Magic Man
Mindi,
Yesterday I picked up an issue of Parkland Life and you have no idea how happy my daughters were to see their photo in your classy magazine (Photo Ops, August issue)! It was also a very happy surprise for my wife. Please say hello to Hank and thanks again for all you have done.
Sincerely,
Armando Vera
Coral Springs

You are such a lovely guy with obviously such a beautiful family. It was our pleasure! Will look forward to seeing you perform again at Tavolino Della Nonna in Coral Springs soon (Armando is an amazing entertainer/magician who performs on weekends at the restaurant! He really is unbelievable as he saunters up to your table and mesmerizes you with his elegant slight of hand!)—Mindi

Miracle Mission
Hi Mindi,
Just saw the great piece you wrote on Dr. Levens’ and his son Ben’s mission to Ecuador (LifeTimes, August 2010 issue). What you wrote was so sweet! Thanks for the article, for doing so much for the community and the great photo!
Jan (on behalf of Dr. Levens)

I have watched Ben literally grow up on our pages these past three years helping his dad on these amazing, selfless trips to improve the lives of people in underprivileged countries. Even with our economic downturn, so many around the world NEVER might experience the likes of a talented doctor like Dr. Levens to treat them. And he and Ben spending so much time in less than idyllic situations just to help people, renews my spirit. It’s our pleasure to herald such good karma!—Mindi

Making Strides
Hello Carolyn,
I would like to thank you Carolyn, as well as Mindi and Hank so much. Due to your wonderful article last month on Making Autistic Strides and the Parkland Powerhouse (July 2010), I’ve had the chance to meet even more families in our community with children, teenagers, and adults diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). A mother came to my husband’s office, Parkland Chiropractic to share her story and meet me. I enjoy organizing group play dates with other children that are on this wide spectrum we call Autism, and their siblings. Due to the lack of awareness, these children miss out on a lot of “play dates” when being around other children and socialization opportunities are so important for them. Thank you all for always caring and for helping put another piece of a puzzle together for anyone in your reading area touched by autism.

Autistic Strides

Oh no Diane, thank you. It’s people like you and your wonderful hubby Dr. Neil who should get the thanks. Stepping up to the plate and spending your time and energy to do something to help others—especially today, should be recognized and applauded. Autism is such a misunderstood diagnosis and the effort you put forward to help families through this challenge is inspiring. YOU keep up the good work, our part in comparison is easy! — MFR
