Coral Springs Commissioner Vincent Boccard announced his candidacy for Mayor of Coral Springs. He has served 6 years as commissioner, of which two years were as vice-mayor. Vince & his wife Terry have three children & a grand-daughter, and have lived in Coral Springs since 1997.

Coral Springs residents Ryan & Marisa Courson celebrated their 1st wedding anniversary on a fall foliage hiking trip in Stowe, Vermont.

The Parkland City Commission presented Westglades Middle School students Kendy Claixte, Malachi Webb & James McLaughlin with a proclamation on their first place win at the SECME National Engineering Design Competition held at the University of Alabama in June. Kendy, Malachi & James won with a high speed race car that had no fixed gears, rapid acceleration & low friction.

During Fire Prevention Week in October, the Parkland/CS Fire Dept. received a proclamation from the Parkland City Commission showing the city’s commitment to ensuring safety & security of all those living in the city. Sparky the Dog was present as well as numerous fire vehicles & employees. This year’s theme is “Protect Your Family from Fire” which should remind us all of the simple actions we can take to stay safe from fire.

Broward Health Coral Springs Medical Center lit the hospital pink as part of the first annual Paint the Town Pink campaign during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Lisa & Vince Boccard are pictured in front of the hospital.


Robert Mayersohn (R) was named Volunteer of the Year at the 32nd Annual Disabilities Expo “See the World through our Eyes” Art Showcase 2011 Gallery Gala & Awards Ceremony for his commitment to advocacy & support for individuals with disabilities. Out of more than 70 entries, the Council of Catholic Women selected the winners of its annual Craft Fair Art Show at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Coral Springs. More than 1,000 people attended the Trunk ‘N Treat at St. Andrew Catholic School in Coral Springs which featured a bounce house, slides, haunted houses, music & prizes, & raised more than $3,000 for the school. On June 24 members of the Parkland Woman’s Club met at Jamie’s Country Stitches in CS to participate in the ONE MILLION Pillowcase Challenge—“Make a pillowcase-Make a difference.” They made 10+ pillowcases (and plan to make more) which they’ll donate to 18-year-old teens who are leaving foster care & going out on their own. The recent “Scouts for Troops” Walk was a service project organized by Parkland Troop #10417 to earn the prestigious Bronze Award. Over 100 people attended along with 15 Girl Scout troops & raised $800 to send supplies to US Military troops stationed in Iraq. Archbishop John Clement Favalora recently met with St. Andrew Catholic School’s 5th grade class at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Miami following the Mass of Chrism. St. Andrew student Mariana Nava of Coral Springs (pictured behind the Archbishop on the left) was among the Catholic school students who encouraged the priests with their essays about the importance of their vocations.
