RESTAURANT REVIEW

Nectar Lounge

Let’s get real. We live in the heart of SoFla, where there’s almost as many Sushi restaurants in our beach-inspired haven as there probably are in Tokyo. And if the truth be told, there’s probably only a handful which stand out above the crowd. Factor in a Sushi bar within a maybe 10x10 space inside a casino lounge, and sorry, but you’d bet your bottom dollar Nectar wouldn’t be a contender for a top spot.

You’d lose that bet. Today some of the country’s finest fare can be had inside casinos. A trip to Las Vegas, where more celebrity chef names appear on marquees than entertainer’s these days, is a case in point. Today to attract patrons, casinos know you need to attract foodies. Not just people willing to fill up cheaply, but people who savor fine food and drink, can tell the difference and demand uncompromising quality.

Nectar Lounge's Ambience

Lucky for us the powers that be at our local Seminole Casino Coconut Creek have always embraced this, first with Executive Chef Francoise Ternes who sculpted their Fresh Harvest buffet, with Thomas Raymond as Food and Beverage Director, and now with the cutest, most effervescent Sushi chef I’ve ever had the pleasure to interview, Master Sushi chef “Jackie Chan,” spelled Jiyue, but that’s what he calls himself. Happier, more talented, innovative and more knowledgeable, you’d be hard pressed to find, except for his Sous Chef, Tony Tao. Side by side, this duo turns out some of the most magnificent and palate pleasing Sushi you can find in south Florida. And if you’re not smiling when you leave them, you must be part lemon. They delight in telling you about the exquisitely fresh and rather unique ingredients they have the privilege of being able to order for their artistry. Thanks to the buying power of the Seminole Group, your experience rises above the ordinary. And thanks to the gaming interests of the same, your check doesn’t..

Nectar's Amazing Food

Amazingly well-priced for the quality, the trade off is you dine at either the 4-seat Sushi “bar,” Nectar’s chic lounge bar or inside the lounge itself right off the casino. But if PDCs (public displays of consumption) are not your thing, Chef Chan will make anything you desire TO GO!!! Choose from their menu or special request, and within minutes you’re on your way with a gourmet feast

From their 8-piece Maki-Zushi rolls: JB ($8), Mexican ($9, delicious with Shrimp Tempura, Avocado, Scallion, Masago & a hint of Spicy Mayo), California ($5), Spicy Tuna ($7), Dragon ($9, an explosion of sweet shrimp, avocado, cool cream cheese, Masago with eel on top),
