
But marketing your business takes way more than just slapping a "cheap" ad in a publication. Successful advertising is a combination of HIRING THE RIGHT PUBLICATION and then truly trusting their expertise to guide to creating the right ads to get your business noticed.
Ask how long an ad rep has been with the publication you are considering. That can be eye-opening. Most of our reps have been here 5 years, several 3 years, and a couple two years. Expertise and training counts. Ask how long that publication's editor has been in place. One local publication has had 13 editors in FOUR YEARS. That really develops a connection to the audience. Choosing and trusting a publication should be a well-thought-out decision, not an eeny, meeny, miny mo of who's cheapest decision. Your ad appearing in our magazines a couple of times, does not change our life, nor yours. What changes all our lives is when your ad appearing in our magazines brings you a result that makes YOU want to write us a love letter, too. No one writes those letters because we're cute, or funny (although we do have our moments). They write them AND MEAN THEM because we took the time to know them, guide them and shape a marketing campaign to GROW their business -- And it worked.
If you're a plumber, you could buy a premium full page ad, but if the customer ain't got no leak, they're simply not going to call you until they do. And we won't take your money because we understand we could get hundreds of love letters, but negative word-of-mouth seems to linger longer. We take your money when we earn it, along with your trust. We don't hit a homerun every time at bat, no publication can. But we have more local marketing knowledge, more reader support and a willingness to try harder to figure out what WILL work. And our love letters do prove a pretty impressive batting average. Why gamble? Cheap is only a bargain if it works.
Please if nothing else, remember any publication can mail something into a home, but it takes a very special publication to make the recipient WANT to open it. We have earned that respect from our readers and have earned the trust of over 400 advertisers.
