May is National Pet Month!
By Kristan Bond
Celebrate National Pet Month by bringing home one of the many homeless cats and dogs in our area’s shelters/rescues who so desperately wait for a family. The hardworking folks at those shelters/rescues are always in need of donations, fosters and volunteers if you can’t take home a new pet. And there are many events this month where you can show your support, get low-cost vaccinations and learn more about wildlife! So read on, mark your calendars, and get ready to fall in love with these incredible four-legged friends. These fur-babies need a 2nd chance!

Riley is a cute as a button Schnauzer mix who’s about 1.5 years old. Aandoned at the shelter after his previous owners could no longer care for him, he loves to give kisses and enjoys being a lap dog! He also enjoys walks outside, playing with toys and taking naps on a cozy bed. Contact Kate at Lady Luck Animal Rescue at kate@ladyluckanimalrescue.com or fill out an adoption application under the "adopt a pet" tab at www.ladyluckanimalrescue.com.

Max is just 2 and is a super sweet little guy! Timid and shy when you first meet him, when he realizes that you won’t hurt him, he’ll cuddle on your lap! Max really enjoys playing with the other four-legged friends. Heartworm positive, Max is undergoing treatment and will be ready for a home soon when his treatment is complete. To meet Max, contact Inga at Lady Luck Animal Rescue at Inga@ladyluckanimalrescue.com or call 561.302.3624.

Cara is just about a year. She is a young mom rescued from a high kill shelter with her four babies and hasn't had anyone to love her and give her the attention that she deserves. Cara is great with children and other pets and is so amazing you’ll never be sorry. Make this one a part of your family; she’s truly special. Cara and her kittens are being fostered in Boca Raton,. For more info or adoption application, email Kate at Lady Luck Animal Rescue at kate@ladyluckanimalrescue.com.

Georgia is a super cute, super sweet Staffordshire Bull Terrier who’s only 5-months-old. Found dumped on the Turnpike (!!) along with her sister, they were brought to a high-kill shelter; her sister was adopted and Georgia was left behind but thankfully Lady Luck Animal Rescue took her and is giving her a second chance. Contact Inga at Lady Luck Animal Rescue at Inga@ladyluckanimalrescue.com or call 561.302.3624. You can download an application at www.ladyluckanimalrescue.com under the “Adopt a Pet” tab.

Rex is about 5-months old and is a teeny, tiny bundle of love. He loves to cuddle and be right next to you. He’s fine around children so he’d be perfect for a family who’s looking for a warm, loving and wonderfully smart four-legged friend. Rex will keep you entertained! Rex is available through Feline Friends in Deerfield Beach. Call 954.596.0848 or visit www.felinefriendsfl.com.
Ellie is a special needs cat, as she is losing her vision. She could really use the familiarity of a home and family where she can feel safe. She’d do best in a quieter home without a lot of noise and surprises that might cause her stress. Just a happy home and some TLC will help make Ellie’s transition much easier for her. Help this sweet, sweet girl! Ellie is available through Feline Friends in Deerfield Beach. Call 954.596.0848 or visit www.felinefriendsfl.com.
